Plymouth | March - June 2025
From March to June 2025, I was commissioned by Green Communities Plymouth (a partnership between Green Minds, the National Trust and Plymouth City Council) to design and deliver a community-led creative project, to celebrate local spring blossom. This involved programming and facilitating workshops, managing a budget, evaluating outcomes, and collaborating across organisations.
I hosted workshops for Central Park’s Walk and Talk (led by Argyle Trust) and Compassionate Café (led by Stlukes Hospital) attendees. These organisations offer the space, time and support for those living with illness, experiencing loss or bereavement, and for those who feel isolated and alone. It was such a wonderful experience to spend time with these groups and to see the impact that these community groups have on individuals.
I developed a series of workshops that allowed the group to engage with their local natural spaces through creative explorations. Those who participated explored a process of working from photography, which informed drawn and collaged responses, before transforming these ideas into original prints, similar to the process I explore in my art practice.
Three other creative practitioners were also commissioned to work with community groups, covering Keyham, Central Park and Devonport: Liv Torc, Devon Tipping, Samantha Webb.
The artwork made from each community group involved went on tour around community hubs before going on display in local National Trust properties (Cotehele, Antony House and Saltram House), giving the participants the experience of sharing their creative responses with others in exhibition settings!
I also used this project as an opportunity to utilise my interest and skills in graphic design and promotion. I have shared a selection of my social media content, posters, and the pages of my leaflet below.
This project was coordinated by Green Communities and funded by the National Trust Blossom Funding.
