About me:
I am a Plymouth-based printmaker, originally from Staffordshire. I graduated from Arts University Plymouth in 2024 with a BA (Hons) in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking. I work from my studio at The Devonport Guildhall and develop my printmaking practice in their shared printmaking studios.
My practice centres in contemporary printmaking and considers alternative ways of representing a subject. I work primarily with screenprint to explore process, colour, shape and composition. I often use digital software to respond to my photography, to inform ideas and prepare designs for traditionally produced printed outcomes. Drawing encourages a different approach to image generation in my art practice. I work with charcoal to play around with the content. I enjoy translating these drawn ideas into spontaneous ink paintings that break down the image into shapes and remove elements of detail, allowing a level of intrigue for the viewer.
The Blossom Series is an ongoing body of work; I use blossom as a visual motif to explore image transformation, while maintaining a sense of continuity throughout my work and familiarity for the viewer.
Previous group exhibitions include the Thelma Hulbert Gallery Open 2025 (Honiton), the Graduate Art Show at the Vanner Gallery (Salisbury), the Artizan Collective Contemporary British Printmakers 2026, the Peirson and Peirson Contemporary Art Prize 2026 (Plymouth), and the Ironbridge Printmaking Competition 2025 and 2026 (Shropshire).
I recently explored ways to introduce sustainable considerations into my practice, informed by ‘Let’s Make Change’, part of the Creative Climate Programme by Plymouth Culture in partnership with Art and Energy. Previous to having a studio in Devonport, I was based at Ocean Studios (Royal William Yard) as an Artist in Residence with Real Art Make Print. During this time, I was awarded a commission grant by Green Communities, funded by the National Trust, to deliver a project with a local community group. These opportunities allow me to push the boundaries of my practice and engage the public by exploring the relationship between printmaking and themes of nature.
