I am so pleased to share that I have been selected for Let’s Make Change, part of the Creative Climate Programme by Plymouth Culture in partnership with Art and Energy.
This programme supports Plymouth-based Freelance creatives to explore new ways of responding to the climate emergency through workshops, mentoring, and peer learning that connect creativity, sustainability, and community action.
My project, 'Functional Art for Everyday Sustainability', explores how art can move beyond gallery walls and become part of people’s daily lives - something to use, connect with, and live alongside. I am developing ideas for functional products such as mugs, journals, and blankets featuring my original prints, designed to bridge the gap between fine art and practical design.
Through this project, I hope to:
🌱 Learn about eco-friendly materials, sustainable printing methods, and local production.
🪡 Experiment with ways to reduce waste while maintaining the handmade quality of my work.
🤝 Collaborate with local makers and suppliers to strengthen creative and sustainable networks.
🎨 Encourage people to see art not as exclusive or a luxury, but as something integrated into everyday life, that is accessible, long-lasting, and environmentally responsible.
The Let’s Make Change programme will give me the opportunity to gain knowledge, confidence, and mentorship in developing sustainable creative practice, while connecting with other artists working towards similar goals. I am really looking forward to learning, sharing, and evolving my practice through this experience.
